Finally, Perfect Pass! Pet575 has a good install thread on here for the paddle wheel and such. Mine is GPS based, and soo much easier! This little product ran about $1200, but that includes everything... the module, gps reciever, and GPS speedo/user interface.
As they told me over the phone, if you can assemble a grill, you can install PP. It was that easy!
First, I took out the old speedometer, and installed the PP speedo (remember to plug the old speedo tube!). I ran the power and tach signal for PP from my tachometer. I mounted the control module and GPS reciever next to my amp on the bulkhead forwad of the helm... there was plenty of wire to remove the panel, so was very easy to do.

The toughest part was installing the servo for the throttle. The design calls for mounting it where my CC exhaust solenoid is located. A played around a bit, and attached it to the mount for my engine control module. I had to trim the frame a bit for interference, and put a piece of rubber between the servo mount and the ECM mount. this allowed for a straight path for the cable.

....and viola!

Now, I just can't wait to test it out!

As an aside, I also installed a potentiometer (dimmer) to control my dash lights. I simply located the power coming from the nav switch to the dash lighting, and installed a 0-25 ohm pot. Mounted that on the dash next to my nav light switch. I think it looks close to factory... my options for the knob were quite limited.

Full "on"

Dimmed by about 25%

It won't quite go to "full-off" but very close... I can't get a good pic of it though.

Dash with Depth/temp + PP module...

Walt,
Love what you've done to the boat !!!
Your giving me some ideas. The only problem that I'm going to have is my wife.

Be careful when trying to "mod" your wife.

Agreed. Most wives have enough wires crossed as it is, so you don't want to cross any more by accident.

I got one of those inflators at walmart a few years ago for $20.... that covers the "wife" part. Besides, the boat has an on/off switch.

But seriously, the GF already likes the stereo remote, since the stereo isn't in a good place for lounging.

Way to set the bar for season 3 upgrades! Very nice work. Seems like you have quite a few upgrades tied into your courtesy lights circuit - did you disable the stock courtesy light(s)?

No, not at all. I calculated the total current draw....
3x "Factory" ctsy lights- No more than 3A total
2x "Floor-board" wire rope- About 5A total
1x Glove-box light- <0.1A
2x Stereo Remote Lights- <1A total
2x Underwater/transom lights- ~.5A total

As you can see, I am still <10A, using 16 ga wire throughout. I think it looks good, but judge for yourself from my pics.

My Nav's are also supplying:
Cup-holder LEDs- <2A total
Eng Comp lighting- <3A total

Still, not all that much draw.

Walt, sorry I wasn't questioning the total amps on the circuit(s), I was just thinking about the use of your new transom lights as they are tied into the courtesy circuit - thought maybe you disabled the stock courtesy lights is all. Makes sense to me now. Again, very nice work!

Thanks, and Sorry; misunderstood.

Normally, when I'm chillin' at night (docked/beached), I remove the stern light so not to attract bugs, turn on the Anchor (to energize the Cupholder LEDs), and ctsy lights if desired. This gives me the "movie theater" effect, with plenty of light, but not overwhelming, and keeps essential things illuminated, such as the cup-holders, glove box, eng comp lights and stereo controls, but not the dash, navs or docking lights. I don't typically have the ctsy lights on when I'm running.

Now we are on season.. uh, I think 4?

Last year I didn't post it, but installed boat-buckles late in the season. I know a few others have done the same, so didn't need to bother. If you have anything you need from that, PM me and I will get those pics up on this thread.

This year, I finally bit (or, bought) the bullet on air-flow. I have been working toward a replacement flame arrestor for the very choked down factory unit. K&N doesn't have anything specifically listed for most of the EFI Merc's. I took some measurements with a digital caliper, and found K&N's 59-5030 to be a near perfect fit. The idea being to clamp onto the throttle body. Mind you I have only ordered it at this point. Delivery is a week or two yet. This should roughly triple the available area for less restrictive air-flow. I will also have to replace the 3 mounting bolts for the existing flame arrestor with something shorter. I will keep all posted.

It's been rumored, but decided NOT to do the drive cooler/drive shower. CLR works great to clean off the hard-water deposits, and the B1 doesn't get "that" hot on my short runs down the lake.

You know Walt, I didn't think of this before... but instead of plugging your old speedo tube, you should've just re-routed it to drain over the top of your drive. Custom drive shower. LOL
