I have a 2006 horizon 240. Moving the throttle forward is pretty stiff but going in reverse it’s almost impossible ( my wife can’t get it in reverse). When it’s in neutral ( when button is pushed in) the throttle moves freely in forward and reverse.. throttle body is some what loose from mounting plate..

Yesterday I couldn’t get it started for a bit. Just kept trying to find neutral .

Where would you start first? Also where would I find specs on the throttle handle if I wanted to replace it with a new one… thanks

I haven't spent a lot of time missing with the throttle system on mine, but this sounds more like a throttle/shift cable issue more than just the throttle handle itself. It sounds like the shift cable is binding inside, probably due to dirt or corrosion.

One thing you should be able to do is to disconnect the throttle and shift cables (each one) at the motor and gear box. Then move the throttle lever on the motor (not the cables itself) and see if it is stiff, then the same on the shift linkage on the gear box. If both of those (at the point of termination of the independent cables) move easily, then try to shift the throttle handle back and forth (again, without the termination cable ends disconnected at the motor and gear box) and see if either one of the cables is still stiff. Most likely I bet your shift cable will be hard to move at this point.

Basically, you're starting the process of elimination on the cables from the farthest point back and moving forward up to the throttle handle at the helm.

Let us know how it turns out.

Thanks..I disconnected cables at engine… the throttle cable worked smooth unhooked,, no issues.. I then was shifting cable going to gear box. This is definitely where the issue is.. what would be my next step?.. was going to take off cover on lower end and see if it’s sticking in there.. what that be next logical step?

The shift cable connects to the outdrive under that plastic cover at the tail end of the upper gear housing. These cables can get stiff like that because when you keep the drive tilted up, it stresses the cable where it enters the pivot housing (what the outdrive is bolted on to). Eventually the cable jacket cracks & lets water in & that corrodes the cable. If you can keep the drive down in storage the cable can last much longer. My old OMC Cobra has the same cable on it as when I bought it…almost 21 years ago! That cable & the shifter on the old Cobra work great but I store the boat with the drive down.
