I have always been curious what my actual towed weight is, but the closest scale is a 45 minute drive from my house.
Has anyone actually had their similar model 240H on a scale with a tandem axle trailer --- (preferable steel trailer, since mine is a galvanized trailer)

The actual scale weight would be appreciated.

I'm not sure what the difference would be between '03 and '05, but mine, on the steel tandem trailer with full fuel & water, anchors, toys, etc., was within a few pounds of exactly 6,500. My dealer estimated the trailer itself to be ~1,500.

and that is about what I has estimated --

We have talked about this before ---- but do you have a 4.6 or 5.4 in your F-150

I tow with an Expedition and am probably right at the tow limit of my 4.6L ---
It does feel like it, although it does OK --- at least on the Florida flatland.

I have the 4.6L also. It doesn't tow like a diesel, and it's an adventure down in the Ozark mountains, but otherwise it does pretty well. IIRC the tow capacity is listed at 7,300 and I wouldn't want to be any closer to it. But I've never felt like I had to panic and go buy a new truck. The Expy is probably rated lower since the vehicle itself is heavier, putting you closer to the limit. But I have to say, the 4.6L is the little engine that could!

Well --- according to what I have read it is not that high for the 4.6L
You should check for yourself --

I have checked the TrailerBoats site tow ratings, and the Ford Truck Enthusiast site that I am a member of, which list all the specifications.

What gas mileage do you get -- I get around 8.5 when towing --- about 13.5 around town and close to 16 on the highway.

Mine is 7,200 based on the sticker on the truck. For some reason I always want to say it's a little higher than that. The same vehicle in Expy trim will be a few hundred pounds less typically.

Towing MPG varies for me. In mixed flat/gentle rolling hills it ranges around 7.5 - 10.0. In steeper hills... I don't want to know. Non-towing, I get 17 (mixed) to 18.5 (all highway) depending on conditions. Since 98% of my driving is non-towing and 98% of my towing is in the flats, it makes more sense for me to drive a truck like this (or close to it) than to go with something like a 3/4 ton diesel - as nice as that would be at times.

This is the best vehicle I've ever owned and I'm going to hate replacing it; people don't get sentimental about their cars the way they used to, but I do. But, it'll be time in about a year (maybe - I've also got two more teenagers starting to drive this year ) - so I'm eagerly awaiting the power train plans for the major truck manufacturers and for real-world feedback on them. I was looking forward to a small diesel in the F-150 but those plans got dropped when the economy tanked... there seems to be lots of new stuff coming down the pike, much of which isn't time-tested.

I hate to tell you this Mike-- but I think you are looking at GCWR which is on a sticker --(that should be 7000-7200)
Tow ratings are not on a sticker -- Your owners manual might have them listed, but I am not sure.

Hey Mike -- For some reason I thought you had an Expedition --- for an F-150 your numbers are correct -- my error

My Exy had been excellent also -- nothing but a couple of Coil-On-Plugs in 118,000 miles --- otherwise Zero repairs

I have a 2009 F-150 4X4 with the max towing and 5.4L. As you can see, I tow my SL262 around and the F-150 handles it just fine. Plenty of power. I do use a WD hitch which is the proper way to tow so much weight and this hitch makes a huge difference. I thingk the total weight of my rig when loaded, boat and trailer is pushing 9000 lbs. I previously had an F-250 diesel but the diesel price and noise were killing me. The f-150 gets 4-6 mpg better around town and only 1-2 mpg less towing than the diesel so I am pleased...plus I get a much smoother and quieter ride. Both trucks were crew cabs.

Nice Boat -- I keep deciding if I should move up to a 26 foot ---or bigger -- for the inshore salt water here in Florida ---
but a bigger tow vehicle is ONE of the things that stops me -- (or keeps me in check as the wife might say)

I have the same boat and tow with a Pathfinder. I am only towing it generally about 1 mile between the storage place I keep the boat, the gas station, and the boat ramp. THis summer they are dropping our lake 70 feet below full pool to work on the dam and the penstock. During that time (after July) I plan to to to a nearby lake that is about 20 miles away. I plan to keep a close watch on temps etc. when I tow it that far...
