I have a 2008 H210 with the standard seat configuration. The engine cover has a spring that when straight holds the cover up. That spring, if the cover is forced down, will get kinked and is effectively ruined and will no longer hold the cover up. Has anyone experienced this?

Has FourWinns honored what is, IMHO, a replacement to the low quality design spring? I would think that some spring struts would work better.

Yes, my spring is all kinked up and looks terrible. But, it still holds up the cover.

It's on my list of items to replace before Spring.

Yes FourWinns will cover the spring as long as you are still within your 2 year warranty. But to be honest with you if that is the only thing wrong with your boat you might want to check the price of the spring before bring the boat in or even if you just bring the "part only" in for warranty if you end up doing it your self for the dealer, Because if the boat is older then one year you may have a $50.00 warranty deductible and the part may not cost you that much to just buy one your self and install it your self, And for the dealer labor is only .5 an hour max, So over all it could cost you more money in the long run if your not careful here and have it done by the dealer. I think the spring is around $20.00-$30.00 if i remember right.

Also just be sure you always push the center of the spring back before closing the hatch to try to prevent that from happening. Good luck. :)

I have had the same problem on my 180 i have gone through 3 i think all covered under warranty. This kink also happens if you push the spring the wrong direction. I believe they were pretty cheap like 10 or 15 dollars. my boat is a 2006 and i noticed on the newer models they change the spring to a piston which is what they should have done all along. I have been wondering if i could install the piston on my boat seeing as though the boats haven't changed in the newer models. Maybe this is something you could do too

What I would do is measure the spring and head to your local auto parts store. Buy a gas assisted piston, like what lifts the rear liftgates/trunks. Install that in its place and you should be good for the years ahead.
