Hi, All,

I bought a boat, and forgot to check the hull number tag. I got the title transferred and registered under my name, but now I want to sell it and realize VIN tag has been gone on the back of the boat. I notice that by law there should be two places to have the VIN, one displayed and one hidden, but I have no idea where the hidden one is.

Thanks,
DDT

I had to backtrack my HIN today on my Vista...I called my insurance company and they had it on file. I know this isnt the best method for your particular need, but its a quick way to get it....assuming you have the boat insured.

Hi,

Thanks so much for the quick response, but I do not have insurance for this boat :-).

Cheers,

It will be in the inside of the boat under one of the seat cushions. On my last 2 boats it was/is attached to the gunwale on the port side under the cushion/seatback.

Last year I was interested in buying a boat that had the HIN tag removed.

I was a little leary of the situation and actually talked direct to Four Winns. They were helpful, to a point.

They wouldn't tell me where the "hidden" HID number is. However, they were very willing to talk to the owner of the boat and tell him where it was as long as they could verify he was the rightful owner.

I didn't push realy hard to make that happen, since I was leary of the whole situation anyways.

Moral of the story, call Four Winns customer service and see if they will help.
