A question for anyone that knows...

Living in the Seattle area, there is water galore...tons of fresh water lakes and obviously, salt water....specifically the Puget Sound. I am new to boating and bought my first boat ever last summer. I would like to take my boat out into the Sound but would rather not dip the trailer into the salt water. There are several great marinas in my area open to the public that will "strap launch" boats for a very reasonable fee, but will not accept "bunk style trailers".

My question is...the dealer I bought my boat from has told me that their service department can modify my trailer so that it remains a bunk trailer, but will be modified to accept straps for launching in salt water. Can anyone tell me what their experience is with these modifications and if it's worth doing?? :?:

Never heard of this, is it as simple as cutting a couple gaps into the bunks on each side and providing support with additional brackets?

Not sure...I called the service dept and they told me they do it all the time and would not alter the new warranty, the appearance or the functioning of the bunks.

I was told all they do is add molded bunks to the existing bunks at the "strap" points...

I was just curious if anyone out there has ever done this....
