Ok--I have talked about this for a year now and it is now done. I installed a couple of Bose Outdoor 151 speakers in my rear ski lockers in the hopes that we might actually be able to hear our music while in the water swimming and hanging out. Right now, I was lazy and just hooked them up to the head unit. I have 4 cockpit speakers on a Kicker 5-channel amp, so it would be easy to swap the wiring between one set of the cockpit speakers and the Bose speakers if I decide we need more power.

Materials:
* Two $2 cutting boards from Walmart
* Four zinc plated hinges from Home Depot
* Assortment of stainless steel nuts, bolts, washers, and wood screws
* Pair of Bose 151 speakers from Bose Outlet

When we are hanging out, I can open the locker doors, hinge the speakers up, and we are good to go. When we are ready to leave, hinge the speakers down--out of the way. Now we are looking forward to a test run next weekend for Memorial Day! Here are a few pics of the completed project.

Nice job, and very creative! There have been times when I've wished I could hear the tunes in the water better too. We usually have the lockers full of stuff, so I probably couldn't do what you did, but I like the concept!

Thanks Mike! We only keep swim noodles and a battery jumper in those spaces--so hopfully it will work out for us. Time will tell. I am looking forward to getting out (and seeing the rain end).

Yes, nice job. Like Mike, we too have too much stuff in those lockers so I'm not sure it would work for us. But it's got my wheels going. Actually you mentioned it a while ago and I've had it in the back to my mind, now you've got them going full speed again :D

Maybe smaller speakers on some sort of removable pole mount?...

None the less, I like your setup just wish it worked for me.

Tested the new speakers out this weekend and was happy. Still playing with the front to rear fade (balance) and may still consider taking one pair of cockpit speakers off the amp and adding these rather than on the head unit. However--they did throw some decent (and not overpowering) sound out to us in the water--so mission accomplished so far.
