I am installing a shoot through transducer on my 1999 214 Candia. Any suggestions on the best spot to install this?

If theres any air bubbles in the hull, that will affact it too.

There is a procedure to test for the best location. The transducer manufacturer should have these with the installation notes. It involves putting the td in a baggie full of water and sealing this setup against the hull with a popular water soluble lubricant. You can then try different locations. Look on the Airmar site for good info.

I have been using this type of transducer for several years and they do work.

As gregs stated the transducer should have come with instructions. I installed one on my last boat. Filled a large ziplock back with water and put a brink on top so it stayed in place while moving. Once I found the spot where it worked at all speeds I marked it, went home and glued it down per the instructions. Was pretty easy besides bing in a hard to reach spot, plus worked well for me.

BTW some areas of the hull might have air bubbles causing erratic or not readings. But if you find a spot bubble free your good to go and never have to worry about knocking it off or drilling into the hull....
