How do you funship owners like your boats? Anything you would change? Is it a line I should stay away from? After a trip to the boat show, wife says she wants a bigger boat that we can take more people out on. Thinking a 224 or 234.

We have really enjoyed our Funship 214!

It is a good platform for diving, cocktail cruising, camping and a really good family boat. Depending on what kind of boating you do, it may or may not be the best choice for you. I do take it in the ocean and it does fine, but with the wider bow, it does tend to slap into oncoming swell versus cutting through it like a deeper V. Same with really windy days on larger lakes. Having bow and stern ladders and showers is handy and both get well used. Having a porta-potti is good for ladies and kids - I tend to leave ours at home since I know who will have to clean it out....It makes a good space for storage.

The Funship has served us very well so far - and I abuse the sh1t out of it with gear (camping and diving) and beaching it, etc.
For us, I might consider a larger Horizon next time - purely for it's better ability in the ocean.

I don't know what your budget is, but there is a leftover H260 up in Fife - if you like Red. It's an amazing boat and would be worth consideration. These guys are all about the 'deal' - the sales team isn't super knowledgeable about boats, but they want to get rid of these.

Honestly, if you have a 180, I wouldn't go 22'. I'd go straight to something 24-26 with an enclosed head, room to move, etc. Of course, you gotta have a vehicle to tow that big, and able to spend a little more.

Going from 18ft to 21ft isn't an upgrade worth spending money on. As other have said, don't bother unless you step into at least 24ft otherwise you really don't see any useful differences.

I'm not sure I agree with the last couple of posts. Find some that you can test drive and make your own decision - a step up from an 18' to a 21' may be significant enough for you and your family. An 18' Horizon and a 21' Funship are VERY different boats.

Find the boat fits your needs the best.

Just shooting around ideas for right now - as I said the wife just wants us to be able to carry 10 or more, and the one funship I saw could do it. And I'd prefer not to go too large - mostly for storage concerns.

I think it's time for some of your buddies to purchase their own boat.

For what it's worth, this year I went from a 24' boat to a 26' boat. There was a huge difference in size.

I like the suggestion that you should try to test one out, or at least chill out on one for a bit.

As for 10 people, you are nuts... I don't even know 10 people that I like, let alone want on me boat.

24 to 26 cruiser is a huge difference. 18 to 21 bowrider? Not so much. Usually all the extra feets are just in the swim platform and sunpad.

My 22ft cuddy to a 24ft cruiser would be like going from a mobile home to a mansion. Could a Funship 234 physically seat 10 people? Sure but you'll be rubbing elbows and absolutely no space to walk around. It will be a clown boat that will handle like crap with all that weight hope you live on a very flat lake. There will not be any room to store enough refreshments and food for 10 people for a day trip. It also better have the 350 MAG MPI or 5.7GXi dual prop.

Having been on boats pretty much my whole life, looking at the seating of the 234 Funship it would be a perfect boat for 6 people. Two people relaxing stretched out up front, two people in the back doing the same when anchored, captain at the helm and his first mate by his side. Seats 6 at the table for dinner or drinking games.

I would do illegal things to own an H290.

10 people is a lot even for a larger cruiser. I had 10 people on my 26' cruiser and 1/2 were small kids. It was very cramped. You can probably shuttle people but a full day is very claustrophobic.
I was told a long time ago you buy a boat for the majority of your boating. So if you only have 10 people on the boat for 1 day a year and the rest of the time it is just 2-4 people you buy a boat that is more focused on comfort for the 2-4 people but is capable of 10 people but not as comfortable. If that makes sense.
Pontoon boats a great but to me lack a very important feature for the family experience. A true head. That privacy curtain is not that good. I only see the 2 level pontoon boats with a real head.

Yeah, as much as I've tried to avoid not using the head on my boat it's back in service due to the fact that girls just don't like getting wet to pee when when the water is cold.
