I've been a boater all my life and my last 5 boats have been Sea Rays. I'm now considering buying a Four Winns 244 Funship with the Volvo 5.7 ltr dp. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice? One of the concerns I have is the dealer network, quality of the boat, and resale value. thanks

Many of us have had the same decisions to make during our boat purchases. Sea Ray and Four Winns both have high quality product.

My personal opinion - bang for your buck goes to Four Winns. A similarly equipped Sea Ray will almost always cost more than the Four Winns. In terms of build quality - I think Four Winns is a step ahead (again, my opinion).

Dealer network... Not an issue for Four Winns. All brands have hit or miss dealers. You have to find out which one works best for you.

Go for which boat and dealer suits your needs the best.... resale is pretty much the same....

We bought a 244 in June '07 and have really enjoyed it. We have about 80 hours on it now. the amount of room and seats cannot be beat. I went the boat show a couple of weekends ago and decided that sure I could get something a little better for another $20-$30K but for the money I made the right decision for our needs. We wanted a quality boat that could handle two families and still pull poeple on the toys...the 244 fits that bill perfectly!

Frisco,

As far as dealers I don't know where exactly you are.

As far as boats, things things are great.......especially for the money. We just bought a 224 with the 5.0 DP and first weekend out pulled up a 280 pound man while 7 adults and 5 kids road along. Plenty of power and the funship sits on the water nice. I have been complimented every time I've stopped for gas off the water and on. They look great, drive great, and my research in resale is they hold their own well.

Good luck with your decision.

I'm an ex Sea Ray, now Four Winns owner. I'd say money aside, both brands are about even in my book. The SR dealer in town is better than the FW, but I buy my boats used. When we decide to upgrade again, it will be between these two brands.
