Was talking to a local welder I know about making a ski pylon where the rear boat light go's. Hethought it would work. He would make the bottom of the pylon the same size as the boat light and the top that shows above the boat light insert the size of a normal pylon. Not sure if I should give it a try. Talked to a marina they want to charge around $800 to install a factory pylon seems kinda steep. Any thought?

What would it attach to for stability? On my FS 214, the stern light base is just behind the rear seat on the engine cover - there is nothing there of any structural strength to attach a ski pylon to on mine.

I would be concerned about safety and the structure integrity of your hull. I have the pylon added and it is welded under the swim platform and mounted to the hull.
