Found a good deal on this thing and nervously jumped on it before it disappeared, without my normal amount of research. What a pleasant surprise! This boat was in excellent condition with only 116 hours on the Volvo 8.1Gi. It runs great, comes out of the hole quick for a bigger boat and handles better than expected.

I had it out on Lake Norman yesterday in 2-3 foot wind chop, the ride was smooth, stable and the family had a great time. I can't wait to get out again next weekend!!

BTW - I love the LED's from Sounder's post, they're on my short list of upgrades. Nice! :D

What year is it? Congrats! I just found a 254 and I'm picking it up Saturday. How many horses does that big 8.1 put out?

Thanks for the responses. Our second trip out, this time with my 5 year old in tow, and still impressed. The 8.1 Volvo had us up to 55mph at 4600rpm with 50% fuel load, much better than I expected. I just installed the blue LED's to replace all the cockpit lights and they look great (purchased at Pep Boys, so no time lag to wait for them) I also bought six 8 LED panels used for dome lights in cars to place above the drink holders throughout. I've installed one so far, wired to the rear cockpit light. So far, so good. Once these are complete, its time to tackle the anemic stereo system. I've mapped out locations for the amps and subs, but am using separates, and am struggling with where to install the tweeters. the 6-1/2" mid-bass units will fit right where the stock speakers are, with 2 new ones added mid-ship, but the tweeters are a little dicey unless I want to cut into the vinyl. If anyone has done this and has some good ideas, let me know.

you may not want to put comfort lighting in line with the courtesy lights. When it is dark, those courtesy lights attract bugs, and they are bright, so make it hard to see. Your LED lighting should be on a separate switch.

Good idea. Easy enough to wire them in separate. I haven't used them at night yet, didn't think about the bugs or glare while underway.

Thanks.
