Hi Guys & Gals........I am a new member looking to buy a Funship......I currently have 2 Funships in mind......I would appreciate your input as to which one you would buy and why?......Both are super clean......both are priced in the mid $20's.......I believe both have been professionally maintained as far as I can tell......

Thanks for any info or opinions that you can offer....

5.7 duo hands down. 50 more HP and a much better drive system. You'll love it.

I'd go with the bigger engine and DP too but keep in mind, a 2005 salt water boat is going to need risers and manifolds if they have not been done yet and a good look over of the engine and drive for corrosion. Also look out for sticky thermostats that do not let the engine reach normal operating temp (160-175).

I would GLADLY pay for risers and manifolds if that means I get a 5.7GXi with DP. Not even hesitate for a second.

It might be interesting to look inside to see the differences in corrosion between the salt and fresh water engines (pull off the big hose on the thermo housing and look inside). Not only do you need to look after the exhaust, but the thermo housing itself needs to be rodded out in salt. But I am surprised that I have been able to run my engine this long in salt. Gotta be at least half of the 24 years in salt. I looked in the water passages in the block when I changed the OE water pump at 21 years old (bearing starter howling, but 21 years old) and there was no corrosion to speak of there and in the intake manifold when I change the thermostats, there is no corrosion there either. My mechanics have said that they don't think that closed cooling is really needed here but I'd still get it if I got a new motor.....
