Hey guys Hoping somebody can put my mind at rest! Recently got back from a trip out at sea, when checking the engine compartment, noticed that the yellow cap had come off the trim pump fluid bottle. When I checked the fluid I was a murky yellow color is this normal ? I have no idea what it should look like... Thanks again |

It is AFT fluid. If it was water, it should be milky. Yellow, don't know. |

Milky suggests water contamination - yellow seems weird, but I'd be inclined to drain and replace the fluid. |

Milky.... definately concern with water contamination. Yellow.... not really a concern. I thought I read somewhere when working on the trim of my last boat, it doesn't so much matter "what" the fluid is, as long as there is fluid (eg Power Steering, ATF, or just oil). As I did then, I would remove all the fluid (I think trim will need to be full down?), then replace with what you intend to use. After that, I would keep an eye out for future milky-ness, or other signs of water contamination. |

Make sure the drive is tilted all the way down before you disconnect any hydraulic hoses. It makes quite the mess if the drive is up and you remove the "up" hose. Guess how I know. Greg |

Does anyone know if you can buy replacement caps for the fluid reservoir? Mine is cracked - probably from when I was whacking with pump to try to encourage it to raise my drive. (Note: None of the above statement is a euphamism for anything....) |

I would say you can. Have you checked anywhere online for one. I bet you could find one cheap on eBay |
