I want to mount rod holders on to my 2000 248Vista. But I'm unsure of where to install them. By the battery switch it would come too low and interfer with the cooler placement. Don't know whats on other side between the water, waste and light. Thinking of side rails just below side windows. Any thoughts out there?

I wanted to do this in order to use a gimbal mount for downriggers. I needed them as far back as possible for this. There is just no clearance on the port side for it though.
The spot right behind the windshield may work if your using them for rods or a grill mount. Not sure about how the angle of it would work out though.

Thanks Jeff. Yes I'm also worried about the angle of the holder. I think the owner before me had the downriggers mounted there are four screw holes in a square pattern. But the location won't allow for the holders. Good luck.

I mounted the rod holders on my hand rail on the stern. No cutting involved. Picked up a set of four from West Marine for $80.00.
