Dear Four Winns Family,

I live in Australia and looking for a strong well built cuddy that is a good allround fishing, diving skiing, overnighter and can handle the rough stuff.

I'm in the market for a 1988-90 Sundowner 265 and would love to know the pros and cons of this model.
I have found a boat and would like to know more information from past/current owners of this model.

Kind Regards SageMaster1

Well these are close to 30 years old and have a lot of structural wood. That alone would scare me off. Wood rot in boats is bad news. And old boats that were not stored properly will have it no matter what the previous owners say.
And if it has an OMC Cobra power package again, stay away. These were good when new and properly adjusted, but they were last made years ago and parts are starting to get scarce. As are mechanics who know how to adjust the shift linkage. If its a Merc boat then its not an issue but still old enough to have a lot of rot.

Not a good "overall fishing boat", not a good "diving and skiing" boat, good for overnights however.

Being that old, good luck finding one that is not totally decomposed. You might be better served with a walkaround.
