In my OMC factory manuals it says the proper torque is 70-80 ft lbs if it has the bronze spacer, 120 in lbs if the spacer is black nylon. I just crank it up good and tight with the prop wrench and use a new stainless steel cotter pin in the retainer each time I re-install the prop. BTW, its always a good idea to grease the splines on the prop shaft with OMC/Bombardier triple guard grease, the prop comes off easily even after 6 months in salt water.
Thanks, LouC. I need to pick up an OMC factory manual. And you're rite about greasing the prop shaft - the previous owner took extremely well care of the boat - when I removed the existing prop the other day it came rite off with ease!
