I am just curious. Are there any other 285 Sundowner owners out there?
I have not noticed any since I have joined this forum

I think there was one other 285 owner who posted here a while back. I'm not sure how many they made but I'm guessing it's a small number.

I've got a 2005 w/ twin VP 5.0GXi 270HP. I've only seen one other and it was in my neck of the woods, but it didn't have the arch like mine. Great boat - over 50 MPH.

I own a 2002 twin VP 5.0GXi 270HP. I bought it this winter and probably will have a few questions during the season...

I have never seen a 285 in person. I love the looks of the early 2000's model. Can anyone comment on the size of the cuddy and how much room there is to sleep ?

I am curious how roomy the bed is with the head and lil countertop area.

I currently own a '93 SD215. Love the SD's but would love one a lil larger.

I have never slept on my boat, but I would estimate that the sleeping area is similar in size to a full size bed,(taking into account the cabin reduction of the bow)
It is quite a bit larger than the Regal 2300 cuddy that I previously owned.

SEA GAR, this is sort of a weird request but if possible could you post a pic of an adult laying down on the bed in the cuddy so I can get an idea of how large it is?

I love cuddys, even though they seem to be a dying breed but I also love camping on the boat. I do not want to go to a cabin cruiser (yet)

My GF and I are both hovering around the 6' mark so as you can imagine our '93 215SD is a little tight for sleeping.

Any help would be appreciated.

Yes Corey, that is a weird request, if you are that curious you should look at one that is for sale. The Chaparral 285ssi and Formula 280ss are models that are
similar in size.

Fellow 285 Sundowners. I bought my 2002 285 Sundowner used. It came with a cover, but it is very old and I need to replace it. I'm struggling to find a good place to buy one. If one of you has a good idea where to go, it would be much appreciated.

If you are looking for a cover that is made to fit your boat, try national boat covers, or boat covers direct they stock covers that range in price from $409.00 to $979.00 that are available in different colors and fabrics.
