quick question can the volvo xdp drive be run from the flush out connection in the engine compartment? I ask because the four winns vista manual says no but to me the volvo manual does not say no but does not say yes either. f not is there a special set of muffs?

I ran into a simular question with my 2006 255 with 5.7GXI and DP Drive. Very confusing. When I read Both Four Winns and VP manuals, they are not clear on what to do.

I have a port in the rear Ski locker and one on the engine. When I hook water to either port, water comes from different places. The ski locker water comes out the exhaust, and the engine port water comes out the water pickup where I would put the earmuffs. So when I run flush the engine I use the engine compartment port.

Prior to my 200hr inspection, the marina flushed the motor through the Ski locker. While doing my 200hr, I had a leaky riser, so I pulled them to replace the gaskets. Ooooooooo, a lot of rusty buildup. I pulled both risers and manifolds, cleaned with stiff bottle brushes and such, replaced with new gaskets. I have since been using the engine compartment port to run and flush the motor. At the 300hr or this comming winter, I am going to pull the risers again and see if there is a difference.
