What's up fellas? Looks like my boat will be in the water on May 1st. I was looking into some upgrades on the boat and thought about maybe doing the Windlass and also electrifying the head since it currently works by way of pump.

First, how much should it cost for the windlass installation? I already have the switch for it at the helm.

Also, what would the cost be for the head? Same deal, there is a switch in there as well.

I'm thinking this is an easy installation project since the switches are already there. Does that mean it's already wired?

Thanks!

I just installed a maxwell 800 windlass on my 248. The unit I bought I got for $800 complete which included the solenoid pack. I had a fiberglass shop mount the windlass as I didn't feel comfortable filling the hause pipe hole and cutting a new hole in the deck. They ended up having to make a fiberglass pad to get it to sit right on the deck. That was $1000. The windlass looks like it came right from the factory now. Don't forget you will need a new anchor rode approx $300. I did all of the wiring my self. If you choose the right windlass you can use the factory wiring..... either the maxwell 500 or the lewmar v700. In my mind this is well worth it as I have 2 very young children that need to be watch so the cost is worth every penny!
