I have the same issue.

Now that y'all have made it clear that we too are missing the fill-in, I think that it's totally proper to just make one.

A thought......

At Home Depot, you can buy 3/4" laminated MDF sheets (like for making shelves) in white. Both sides are laminated. Do your cutting to shape and cover the edges with matching glue-on laminate edging (just as if you were doing the bare edges of laminated counter top). The edging comes in a roll and glues on with an iron. Once glued on, just cut the overhanging material with an X-acto (or a laminate router if you want to be fancy about it).

Keep in mind.,
Once installed, you will never see the insert, it will be competely covered by the
cushions and bedding. We store ours under the mid berth cushions, it just slides
in there out of sight and out of the way. It will never be seen there either.

So, you can make it as fancy as you like, but only you will know it is purty.

That's also a good thought about just shoving it under the mid cushions. I had previously been thinking about the storage issues.
