Ok I am as big a Fan of Four Winns as most people are about their sports team...

what a waste of a Sunday watching sports when you could be on the lake...imho...

but what the he** happened to the new Vista?

Image

It looks like a spaceship,

Image

where did the nice soft curves go? It's a boat not an inter-galactic space fighter. I want to feel relaxed when I am at the helm, not look for the trigger to launch my missles??

Seriously? Look at the nice soft rounded lines of my 1996...

Image

I am even envious of the beauty of the 2007 models...reminds me of a gentle wave

Image

what happened???

Might have to look at Stingrays Ric!

Seriously Four Winns please take a look at what you are shipping, yes they are technologically better, and I am sure the performance has increased a great deal, but you lost the beauty. To me, and I hope many others, that's important.

The re-design of Four Winns boats, specifically the 275 Vista and V305 is old news now.
December 2011 thread

November 2010 thread

To answer your question about what happened. It's pretty simple. Platinum Equity, Roch Lambert and Christophe Lavigne(Frenchy)
Here is a blurb from Platinum Equity newsletter.
Quote:
Design and engineering are driving the overhaul of each brand’s best-loved models, and world-class
product designers are creating highly desirable boats that drive sales, and Four Winns’ recent Boat of the Year award
in Europe is testament to the success of the new designs. In addition, carefully listening to customer feedback enables
the brands to increase customer satisfaction with each model year. Revamped operating models, new manufacturing approaches, highly
desirable product design, and realistic views of their markets will sustain each boating brand’s dealer relationships,

So you see, "carefully listening to customers feedback", "creating highly desirable boats that drive sales" and " realistic views of the market"
have led to the Four Winns boats you see today. Get use to it, what you see is what you will see for the forseeable future.

If you prefer more sweeping , flowing lines and soft curves to your boats, you may want to look at other builders designs.

So I'm guessing you have to buy a Vista if you want windows on your "cuddy"?

Thanks for the Links Cap'N. I am new to Vistas, just got mine this year. When I saw the 2012 I thought the change just happened. In any case glad to know I am not alone in thinking the design is weak. I probably won't be in the market for a new one for at least a few years and I am hoping that if they hear enough comments, they will consider a less boxy design. There's enough to like about Four Winns to not want to "jump ship" to something like a stingray. Just for now I can only buy or recommend pre 2010 for styling.

Oooops, I did forget to mention instead of jumping ship look for a pre 2010 Vista if the new design is not to your liking. I know I would .

More natural light in the cabin is great but I'm not sure I like that window.

I like the look of that 290... except hate the nearly black vinyl seating surfaces. Seriously, in Florida those would get so hot you could not only cook an egg, you could fry the bacon too!

I'd be interested in the sales numbers for the 305. I've yet to see one on the water. They are fugly. Maybe they are selling in Europe?
