K so I have some questions what I can ask for my boat. It now has 300 hrs. On 6.2 mercs an digital sticks, it has a $14000 stereo and a full led kit that lights the whole boat up good. Bottom part that was done last week. A very clean boat all around !

What adds value to a boat:
Perfect vinyl seats
Glossy gelcoat
No rust/corrosion
Documented service record
Bad ass engine package

What doesn't add value to a boat:
Stereo
LED lights

If it were me, I'd remove your insanely priced stereo system and return the vessel back to a factory style system. Keep it for the next boat you buy.

Disagree with ric on the LED lights. Converting over from the voltage draining bulbs would be a + in my book.

Ok, I'll admit if I was looking to purchase a 358 of this vintage, I wouldn't come anywhere near adding 14 grand to what I thought a 358 of this year was worth for a sound system that the owner states he spent 14 grand on, however, if I found the boat to be cared for and properly maintained and not abused (as far as I and my surveyor(s) ) could tell I would definitely add some coin to the purchase price for the upgraded stereo provided it was not abused (as far as I could tell).

I like a good sound system on a boat especially if I'm buying the sound system at a great discount. :) The sound system could be the deciding factor between two 358's should everything else be a wash.

I think stereos and Led lighting can and will add value to boats when done properly.

Mike.

I think added accessories like stereos, ESP's Lights, Navigators, Instruments, etc can only be expected to add value by 50% of what they cost...at best. That's if they are nearly new. A few years later they would only add 25-30% of what they cost.

That's why you get the best deal buying a used boat (or car or airplane) that is already loaded with the accessories you want, rather than having to add them later.

Ok, dumb question, is it even possible to put 14k into a boat stereo system if the vessel is under say 60 ft? If so, how and heck would you do it? Im no audiophile, so maybe I dont know stereo equipment, but could this be a typo and be 1400.00?

That i can see.

ok so we r down to the wire here
im looking at a 2007 358 with 6.2 and a 2003 378 with 8.1's the 358 is down to 141,000 with 250 hr
and the 378 is at 110,000 with around 300 hr
the 358 has a nice sound system clean boat.
the 378 is clean but needs a new sound system. both have about the same ride, what can you tell me pro's and cons

k just an update we ended up with the 2007 358 main reason being that dealer treated us right on are trades an was sitting with the right price for the market . the dealer with the 03 378 was $28,000 lower on trade value so kinda made my choice easy

Why the quick sale?

As for the quick sale. We r moving the a big bow rider with a day cabin. We love the boat but we want something to pull tubes an wake board an easier to dock on our lake. And as of the stereo a local shop did the stereo ( waves an wheels ) they are on the high side but there work an planning is well worth it ! At the LOTO they are the shop to go to with the top of the line equipment an reputation witch means a lot to me. Also if boat stays at LOTO it comes with something called Cove coverage for 2 years. We payed up front a amount. An they come an do all maintenance for free. Battery, winterizing, oil changes the whole works. So it has all records. An the previous owner was the the guy who owned the dealer so it has been taken care of its whole life

There's one in MO for sale asking 129, a few in FL at 119. I'd say 119 to be competitive, 125k max to get it sold in a reasonable amount of time.
