Does everyone have as much fun as me? Finally I get a guys trip, we went to Lake Erie out of Huron ohio to go fishing. Friday fished with no problems, got up Saturday and headed about 2 miles out, stopped to set up out our lines and when I went back into forward she just revved. Now I just worked on the shift cable. What the hell, I grab my tools take apart the shift handle and try to move the cable by hand to switch gears, it goes into reverse and won't come out. What now? Isn't it obvious? Put on a life jacket, tie a rope around it, tie off to the boat and take off the shift cable cover in 1 to 2 ft waves every 3 seconds. Finally get cover off and don't lose the bolts, the cotton pin fell out or broke somehow. Spare cotter key on boat??? Will be from now on..lol. I had some stainless wire in my fishing gear and I cut a piece off and made a new cotter key, putting it in with the waves and not getting the crap knocked out of you by the swim platform another story. Finally I went under swim and rode the outdrive with the waves and got the pin in. Put it back together and fished all day. My friends have a new respect for me...lol. I love boating!

You are the man Rick! I've had to untangle a lobster pot line kind of like that and its exciting to say the least.

A long time ago before I put the boat in the water I noticed one of the little cotter pins was about to fall out of the shift linkage on the engine side. What made me look closer was something shiny in the rusty old intake manifold, the piece of a broken cotter pin!
I keep a lot of tools and spares on board, mechanical and electrical (impeller, thermostat, coil, plugs points, wire, crimp on terminals, crimper, test light, spare hoses, etc).

Nice work.

Must have been really hard to do that under the swim platform. Sounds like you could have used a bicycle helmet!
