When I was at the Norwalk show last September I asked my Dealer and the FourWinns reps there if the V358 was going to get the IPS system...Rep told me that they were testing it and might pull the trigger for a late 08 intro....at the Hartford show yesterday my dealer confirmed it as an 09 option, both gas and diesel versions. Did not have any price info...we'll definetly be looking to trade up at Norwalk...one thing I did not ask is if FW was looking at a hardtop version, there were not may larger boats at the Hartford show but SeaRay and Monteray (I think) both had hard tops on their 34 - 35 footers. Not much new at the show, but good to get a mid winter reminder....just FYI

Congrats on your boat. I went through the same process as you and Four Winns was the clear choice for me.

Any 348/358 owners have an inflatable/motor combo they would recommend? I’m looking for a basic setup – I just want it to be well made and functional for 2 or 3 adults & a big dog that stows easily (relatively). It probably won’t get used a whole lot. Thanks!

I've got a 9'4" Bombard Typhoon, with the flat floor panels. I have a 6hp 2-stroke on it. It's sufficient to get four adults to shore, even in wind and some chop. Depending on where you're expecting to use it would dictate how much motor to get. If you're on a lake or other protected waters (not the Chesapeake) then you can get by with a smaller motor. But if you need to come out and around a point, for example, you'd want the extra horsepower to help make effective headway should conditions get messy. One friend in a 6' dinghy and a 3hp had to turn back because of headwind and chop.

For the past two seasons I've just yanked it whole up onto the swim platform and lashed it down. I've been putting off getting a davit for it until I've seen a few of the tilt-up ones in action. I don't like the weaver pivot-up type because of how much they impair reward visibility. But this is a personal preference, some don't mind it at all. I've also pulled it up onto the bow (without the motor on it of course). It's a bit of work, but nothing two adults can't handle. I've done it by myself but that wasn't easy (nor very good for one's spine). I just tied the bow painter line to one of the side handles and walked it forward from the platform. One-two-HEAVE and it's up and onto the rail. Flip it over onto the foredeck and tie it down to the sunpad hand rails.

The problem with a dingy is where to put the motor. I've yet to find a good place to stow mine. There's just no 'good place' for it, or a bracket to hang it. I just stuff mine into a long REI duffel bag that has a section of heavy duty foam in the bottom. It's been 'good enough' for the past two seasons. That and the duffel makes it easy to move it around, you just have to watch for the prop inside the bag. 2-stroke outboards can be stored in any position so there's no worry about it flopping on it's side and having the oil run out (like would happen with a 4 stroke).

If you went with a smaller dingy you could probably get by with a smaller motor too. One that might even be short enough to stow in the transom locker (presuming you took the shelf out). Or maybe under the port lounger seat. The powerhead on my 6hp is just slightly too big to fit in there.

With inboards there's no room in the engine compartment for it. With sterndrives there might be.

When it's not in use (during the week) I just deflate it and stow it below. I've found it's helpful to keep the floor panels in a separate duffel bag. This makes it easier to muscle them down below to be stowed in the aft cabin.

Also, I picked up a DinghyMate gasoline tank that clamps to the dinghy's transom instead of sitting on the floor. This is a must-have in my opinion. It gives you just that much more space to safely step on the dinghy floor. Even more important on a smaller dinghy.

If we had a dog we'd certainly have gotten a lot of use out of it. I helped a friend rafted up with us, shuttling him and the dogs to shore a few times. It's definitely handy.

Hi
There is two sony one for inside one outside, the charger is just for the outside unit.
Also the Aux in jack is the one out for that area and the one in for the inside.

Enjoy your boat

Thanks Cattailspa - I'm really pleased! I thought about going all white this time around but just fell in love with this combo. Protectively, in addition to getting the bow thruster I've also hired a full time gelcoat specialist

Thanks! It will be trucked out east from Cadillac in the next few weeks. I'll splash it at the dealer's marina in mid-April for "official" delivery and shakedown, they'll attack what I'm hoping will be a very short punch-list and then she'll be trucked over to me (still too much debris in the Hudson at the end of April to interest me in doing the trip by water).

Looks great!! Very nice color scheme. It won't be long before you see this:

I'm shooting for a early May launch, so you'll probably beat me to it. Up here it all depends on ice out. I hoping for an early spring.

She's arrived! Went out to the delivery point yesterday and climbed all over her. Of course, I have to post some pictures. Since there has been much talk about the folding arch, I included some shots with some detail of the arch folded (best I could under the wrap). I also included shots of two of my favorite "little" features about the boat for anyone who might be shopping around. I think the design of the battery panel just inside the transom door is terrific - so simple and smart. Same with the standard helm canvas - no more towel draping 8)

 I just got back from checking out my new 358!!!! It is in the water but still completely shrink wrapped. The hinged arch contruction looks very sturdy. I am going to make sure that my dealer saves the support that the arch is resting on so when i winterize I will have it. New Boat was slipped right alongside my trade in (99' 340 Sea Ray) man what a difference. I crawled inside to check on the options, everything looks great. The glue smell was a little overwelming so I couldn't stay below for too long. I am going to add a flat panel to the bulkhead along side the companion way stairs, directly over the entrance to the aft cabin. I know some others are doing the same. Has anyone sized it to see how big of flat panel can fit there?? I measured and came up with a 24" max width and a 17.5" max height. Man this is exciting seeing her floating already I was ready to go out today even though it was grey drizzling and about 46 degrees.
trying figure out how to insert photos. When I do I will post a new reply

Congrats rberm!! I also took measurements and came up with 24, maybe 26" for the TV. My dealer's going to get the spec from the factory on how they'll be putting them in and we'll be using that as our starting point. I'll post the info as I get it. Did they paint the bottom already? When will you commission her for the season?

Time to update your sig!
