Just letting people know of a mod i've made, Since bring the boat from Florida to Europe, i had to change the TV as it is NTSC so would not work very well on our PAL systems.
Never did like the coffee maker and the space it took up in the right hand upper cupboard, i have removed the coffee maker
and the installed TV in the middle cupboard, I then installed a really good 27 inch flatscreen on the rear bulkhead next to the steps where they install the tv's on the 09 boats, i already had a KVH M3DX sat so moved the controller box to where the coffee maker was, then installed the new Sat receiver for Sky UK, then installed a Blue Ray player in there as well. I have asked the Florida agents if they can order a new door for the cupboard where the coffee maker was ( if you look at the 2008 cataloue it shows it with a door on) and then also a replacement door for the center cupboard where the TV was. I would like to have the door in the cupboard (the new one) where i have the Sat gear, installed with a cutout for perspex, like in the cupboards behind, then the remote will work without the door open.

Anyway it looks very good and is very functional and i would like to see it as a factory fit.

You never know what you're going to stumble upon when you're mindlessly surfing the net. Click here to see a video "owner's manual" for the V358. This is on a video production company's website as a sample of their work. It appears to be one chapter from a more comprehensive "video manual" which makes me wonder, does such a thing actually exist? It's very simplistic and straight forward but well done and would be a great thing to have for all parts of the boat. I may just have to reach out to this guy. He claims to have made videos for the V318, V338 and V378 as well.

If he did them under contract then it's unlikely he can release them. But it would be interesting to hear from FW regarding them. Might be an interesting thing to put on the admiral's portable media player. It'd let her learn a bit more about the boat while on the morning commute...

Just stumbled upon this listing for a new, '09 V358. Appears to be fully-loaded except for the Nav upgrade (has the C Series) and no auto-pilot with 6.0 Crusaders asking $189.5. That seems to be a great deal. And it's a the classic color band paint with black hull and the red stripe that they've been showing the V408 in - I have never seen it before on a V358 and it's not shown as an option on the FW site. Looks nice

What is the more expensive package - inboards or outboards (assuming no axius or pods of course)? The local dealer actually had, as of late last winter, maybe still has a 358 with the black CCB and red stripe just like the one Sierra linked. It however had outboards. They kept saying they could get me into it for less than a new 338. Then I told them what I planned to pay for a "new" 338

I'm here and just started thinking about another season. We just pulled the boat carpet out from storage and shampoed it. Next week we do the bow cushions. The average ice-out for our lake is mid-April. I'm looking for a May 1st launch.

Will probably pick the boat up around April 26. It's nice to start a season with no major work to do or mods planned. The boat's really exactly as I want it. My bottom paint needs touching up, perhaps a new coat. I'm planning to do the software update for the E80 and the DSM which will require pulling the E80 from the dash (never pleasant). Hopefully the upgrade won't cause me to have to recalibrate the heading sensor (which I may do anyway). One of the pins that holds the bimini frame to the arch had to be destroyed to remove it at the end of the season - hopefully it's an easy part to get. Plan is to change the fuel filters after splashing and the impellers sometime early in the season. I'm sure I could make the season without doing the impellers but it feels like good precautionary maintenance. And I'm going through the ER to tighten every bolt and hose clamp I can find. One dilemma I'm having is what to have my detailer use on the hull. The boat looks brand new after a coat of Meguiars Flagship, but after reading about all of the different options all winter (as I do every winter) it is tempting to try something different. I would love to try one of the products that repels dirt and water spots better as that's the main foe of the black hull. Starting to plan some summer cruises. Just looking forward to being back on the water!

Went to the only DC area boatshow yesterday. We came away with nothing at all. Interestingly we did see a Regal 3360. Not very impressed with it at all. Not much else was going on. Anyone who bought a boat in the last 2-4 years with a loan likely can't upgrade without some serious cash since the used boat market is very depressed still due to the economy and lack of loan funding out there. Those new to boating or who have cash to buy with can really pick up some deals. We did decide to change marinas. Moving to a place about ten minutes further from our current marina but has floating docks which if you have experienced them before, you wouldn't want to be on a fixed dock again. Also, there are some better/different amenities at the new place. One mod I want to do this year is add a washdown pump. Going to get an estimate for that this week! We splash in 2-3 weeks.

Before you bother with adding a pump consider just using your existing fresh water system. I added a coiled hose to the bow anchor locker and tapped into the existing water system. I only use it to hose off the anchor or the foredeck. Most of the time I never use more than a few gallons of water. It was an easy add-on. Jabsco makes a clear plastic container designed to fit through a deck surface. The lid for the bow anchor locker is larger than the required hole. So I just cut a hole in that lid and installed the unit into the lid. That lets me keep quick access to the bow anchor locker (which I've never needed anyway).

I did the software update last september but I didn't pull the plotter or anything. Can you point me towards that info? Didn't know that was part of the procedure, the software successfully updated. I used a compact flash card that Ray sent me. I do have a new E80 faceplate sitting here and haven't looked into installing it yet. If you remove your E80 can you note what would be remove to swap a new faceplate? I had some hairline cracks in mine when I bought the boat.
