jrcinnh,
I went with the depth sounder like on most Four winns. It may already be done. I didn't think I really needed the fish finder. I think all in all in will cost about $400 installed. It seemed like a better option for me.

The Raymarine units are very nice, but more than I need.

Good luck with you choice.

Bill

Will you get another chance to see your boat before spring?

The Raymarine unit is more than I want as well, that's why I didn't order it from the factory. Just the display is $1500. Once you add the GPS and fish finder it will be $2000, before labor. The Northstar is more like $1200 plus labor. These both have 8.4 screens, the SH is smaller but gets better reviews. Well I have a few weeks to decide.

I can see my boat anytime I want, I'll probably take ride up after Christmas. It's still shrink wrapped but they put in a door. They won't do any real work on it until spring, it's outside so they can't take the shrink off.

Re: electronics--congratulations on your new 288. We have had ours for two seasons and enjoy it immensely. We found it to be the right size--big enough for some tough stuff on the lake, roomy on the inside, but not too large for docking.
On the electronics, I went with a Hummingbird 595C, fish finder and GPS plotter. I never got
comfortable with the depth gauge that came with the boat so I mainly use the depth on the plotter. Also, fish finder gives you a nice echo off the bottom so you can tell if you are in a rocky or mud area for anchoring. Finally, you may get into fishing later in life like I did and my son loves fishing as well.
