We trailered our vista quite a bit last summer and I noticed the the screens have begun to pull out of the window frames. Any advice on how to fix this?

Thanks

Which screens? The port hole screens? On mine, they are meant to be removed and just snap into a channel on the inside of the port hole inner bezel. If you mean the canvas well, that's something a canvas shop has to fix.

Yea, it's the port hole screens. Do I just need to snap the silver linings that are on the oustside out and put the screens back in? It can't be that simple can it?

On a side note, Was it you Brett that added two additional speakers to the deck area?

Wasn't me with the stereo, haven't gotten that far yet :)

On my port windows, my screens snap in from the inside of the boat. The screen material is molded into a plastic frame with four half round tabs that are visable on the screen. They just "snap" into a rim that is molded into the inside of the inner port light bezel.

I believe the 2002 Vista has integrated screens where the newer windows are the Bomar Flagship line that have screen inserts. I believe the ones with the screen integrated are a Lewmar product.

You might want to call Lewmar directly and ask them how best to fix the screen.

John is right - I've compared the two myself. Let us know what you come back with. In my experience, I'd contact the vendor directly for this as John suggested.

If you need to replace a window, it's a simple process as I had a frame fail and had to replace the port light on my port side. Nothing like saltwater all over the interior of your cabin

Sorry for the misinformation, I didn't realize they had used a different manufacturer. I am amazed at how nice my Bowmar port lights are... And amazed at how LOUSY Bowmar's hatches are! (second boat I've had with the profile round Bomar hatch, they are so junky).

Not misinfo at all man! In fact, if I was to keep my 248, I'd look into swapping the older windows out with the chrome looking new ones. I'm curious what if any difference there is in shape. John, did you change out the entire window frame?

Just this last sept/oct I just got done installing a new sterio w/remote at the helm, 600w amp, sub woofer in aft, all new monster wire, new speakers (cockpit and cabin) and added two more in the cockpit so I can hear it while underway. Turned out great.

Bad news, I didn't take any photos to post.

The two speakers I added are placed by the helm, one right under the throtle control, just to the right of the fuse box. The other mounted between the storage box in the gunnel and cabin door when open, more towards the cabin door and 14" or so off the floor. I know that both speakers are mounted low to the floor, but not a lot of choices on this boat. I wanted a pair of speaker towards the helm for me to hear while under way.

Once the boat is out of winter storage I would be glad to get some photos of them if you are still interested.

I know somebody with a 248 put in some deck speakers into the vinyl along the gunnel. I am going to do the same but I would like to talk with person that did it. I want to put one directly behind the captains seat and one directly across on the port side about 36" off the floor. Where did you mount your amps when you redid your stereo?
