Well Gary, it was 68 degrees here today. Forecast the Same tomorrow.... yesterday it was a high around 20

Received my 1/0 cable, fuse holder/fuse, manual transfer switch, lugs )borrowing a crimp tool from a job site tomorrow)

I think I have everything to get this done....

I am going to pull the 2 batteries (1 house/1 start) out from the port side, hoping I can get in closer to the chase to force these 2 cables through there..... wish me luck!

Chris, best of luck on the install. Pulling the batteries will help, but you will probably spend a bunch of time on your stomach on the main deck walk way. I clipped the tie wrap on the bulkhead grommet and worked a while on removing some of the expanding foam to make room for the cables. Be careful to not damage any other wires or lines. Are you putting a disconnect switch between the battery and inverter? I put in a switch to prevent the inverter from draining the battery when not in use.

Monday in Minneapolis was maybe 30, Tuesday it rained a bunch in Neenah, WI, Wednesday was in the mid teens in Manitowoc, and Thursday morning I saw 3 below east of Wausau while driving back, and today it was 45 in Minneapolis. C'mon Spring!!!

Whoa! That's cold up there!

Thanks for the advice and all the help, I will be happy to get the bulk of this don't tomorrow.

My inverter has a remote switch that is supposed to turn it completely off, so I didn't do a disconnect switch. So it it's an issue, I will add one later  fingers crossed it works like I anticipate

Yeah, my Xantrex inverter also has a remote switch. Even when the inverter is turned off there are times when the inverter's cooling fan runs. It is designed to run anytime the internal temp of the inverter gets to something like 105 or 110F. The disconnect switch is one way to stop this use of battery power.

Good info Gary. I will monitor it, hoping it doesn't get 105-110 tucked under the steps, so close to the water line.... there would be no convenient place to mount one..... fingers crossed

The only thing I am lacking is some pin terminals for the inverter side. The 1/0 is too large for the lugs. Pin terminals will reduce the size without cutting the conductors outer layer....

So, getting the wire routed with behind the aft cabin was the easiest part of the day, I lifted the water hoses up and was able to slip right in, took 10 mins....

Hard wired the inverters output.... tries to use the receptacle, but there wasn't enough room...

When I pulled the power panel out, the main neutral broke loose, I didn't notice it until I had no power on the secondary of the breakers, easy fix...

The manual transfer switch is awesome, I am glad I installed it....

I will post a pic of how that turned out when I get a couple minutes

Until next time, thank you Gary!

That's great to hear. I am sure you will enjoy some 110V power away from the dock and without a generator running.

Plane landed about 2:30 from San Diego. Headed to the electrical supply house to pick up my pin terminals (let me terminate a 1/0 wire on a #2 lug). Went to a job site first thing, got a crimp tool, then to the boat (about 15-20 mins away), heard the co detectors chirping, damn, low batteries.... I just had enough room to fit the connector and cable into the lug.... inverter gave me the low voltage alarm.... went home, got the generator and started charging the battery.... inverter works, was able to run the stove and microwave.... the remote switch didn't work, so I ordered one :(....

Gary
I will eventually get a true power inverter, but for less than $100 in this inverter (and another remote switch) it will be good to see if we use it much.....

Thanks for all the help, this forum is great

6 weeks til splash, weather permitting

Not really, the pics under the step didn't show the inverter much. The hardest part was getting the 1/0 wire fished through the engine room wall, behind the air conditioner. The rest was pretty simple. I did not install a battery switch between the battery and the inverter, I have the top step loose, just slide it back and flip the switch on the inverter on or off. Glad I installed it, makes all the difference in the world. I have not run my Honda generator this year, but I have used my inverter almost every time out

I can't even get the "door" where the A/C unit is to open! Any tricks? It seems like it's glued shut.

If I remember right, there is a couple screws that hold the ac grill cover on. After removing that, there is a couple screws holding the door shut
