First boat and thinking about winterization/projects. When it come to parts should I go with VP or Sierra? Does it matter? I am talking about impellors, filters, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, bellows, thermostat, temp sensors, etc..

It is a bit of a mixed bag. I like OE for critical parts like impellers and drive shaft bellows. However, I've used Sierra filters and have had mostly good experiences (had 1 fuel filter where the threads were not cut right and it would not thread on). I just installed a set of aftermarket manifolds & risers (Barr), and they fit fine. There is good aftermarket and not so good. Sierra, Barr, Arco are good. GLM does not have a good rep here and the 2 marine parts stores I deal with will not order them due to problems.
