Well, its that time of year when we get our boats ready for the season (supposed to be 77 tomorrow). I need to change the raw water impeller on a Volvo Penta 5.7 while it's in the water. I would love to hear from someone that's accomplished this or where a nice youtube video is of this. I'm pretty sure I saw where its best to remove the housing and keep it above the water line, then change the impeller. . . . any thoughts and comment would be appreciated.

I would just remove the water inlet hose at the pump and use a large enough bolt to insert into it as a plug....then take your time swapping the impeller....it take enough hands as it is without having to hold it all up high.

If you havent already done so...I would swap those pos screw head bolts on the pump housing to stainless nut driver style heads....im doing that in few weeks also...it's been fun dealing with the mini flathead screwdriver bolts they used but that joke has gotten old.

You may even be able to just prop the inlet hose up high during the change if you have enough slack in it, but sticking a plug in there too will eliminate the stress.
