My wife has informed me that she hates the standard table in the cabin. She made me put it under the bed and use the smaller table from the aft cabin. I understand her complaints, the fold out sections are clunky and it's not very useful folded. So I'm thinking a new custom table may be the solution. Anyone ever do this? Any hints? Where can I buy the piece that connects to the aluminum pole.

Captwalt, that Al guy has skill and the right tools. I don't have woodworking skills and just basic tools. So I'd need someone to make it for me. I know skilled people so that's not a huge issue. I'm just thinking about design ideas and materials.

When Al sold his 268, he gave me a table for the cabin that he made. It is a bit smaller than the oversize one that FW includes. We like it much better, as it is easier to get in and out of the dinette, and is plenty big enough to eat a meal on.

Another possibility, would be just cut one out of marine plywood in the shape and size you like, and cover the top of it with fake or real flexiteek. The base and mount can be ordered from a marine store or online from an accessory supplier.

Does the mid cabin table fit? Just order another from FW. Or perhaps one of their other sizes would work, from a different model.

I think Garelick makes most of the table hardware. The socket on the floor, the pole and base under the table are all available as separate items from most marine suppliers.

Just do yourself a favor and make sure whatever you do get will fit in the same storage place as the factory table.

Yes, the mid table fits, we had it set up that way most of last year, the dealer actually delivered it that way. Then I got smart and set up the folding one from under the bed. She hated it, so back it went.

I can just keep using the mid cabin table, we never set up the mid cabin. But I think it's cheesier than the nice wood one and the Formica edges are sharp. Plus It's a little too wide and a little too short. I've been thinking about the unfinished funiture store down the street, may be some nice tables in there. I just have the itch to do something custom.

If we get a new main cabin table, we will likely store the mid cabin table under the bed and leave the main table up. The original main table will likely go to the attic.

Now the cockpit table is another story. I think it's way too big but she loves it. I think I'll leave well enough alone.

We made a new table for ours. Here is the best picture I can find. They are not to hard to make.
