My dealer says I need an extension cord and he doesn't have any. Is ths something I can make? Isn't it a L6-30A twist-lock plug? What is the plug on the boat?

I believe the boat should come with the shore power cord as standard equipment from Four Winns. Are you talking about the adapter to use power from your house?

Not sure what the model number is. I went to RV shops, Lowes, Home Depot and no one had them and said they were marine specific because the RV connectors don't have the locking tab. So I called my dealer up and he sent me one free of charge (Marinco, 30A Shorepower to 15A three prong wall recepticle) it's a $60 dollar adaptor.

Works like a charm!

I honestly don't know what I need. The dealer states I will need an "extension cord" and he doesn't have one.

Are you saying the boat should come with the cord and/or the adaptor?

You should have been provided with an adapter 30A --> 15A. Tell the dealer to provide you with one. If he refuses, I'd contact FW customer service and ask if they can correct the dealer and inform him that it was part of your boat and you ain't got one.

My dealer is closed so I downloaded and check the owner's manual and just called FW directly. Customer Service informed me that a yellow shore power cable is included from the factory:

Quote:
Fifty foot, ten gauge, three-wire, shore power cords are provided with dockside wiring. The shore power cords on 60 Hertz systems have 30 amp twistlock type connectors. They have a power ”ON” indicator light to ease in connecting and troubleshooting. This connector complies with the American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) standards.

He didn't say anything about an adapter, though.

I've read some of you saying dock lines were included as well. That is not from Four Winns. Each dealer has the discretion to provide those types of accessories, i.e. a "Coast Guard package" etc. So with that, your mileage may vary.

The 30 --> 15 Amp adapter is part of the yelloe Marinco bag. If you don't have one in there it was 'borrowed"

How far are you from your power hook-up? Maybe you have one but you need something longer. As far as power goes you should have been set up from the dealer for "normal" applications. Do you have any power cables with your boat?

You should have gotten a cord that looks like this

It comes in a yellow vinyl bag

The salesman apologized, it IS in fact in the boat.

Hmmm I didn't realize the 30A Marine to 15A Land adaptor was part of the Marinco package (FW doesn't go into details about what comes in the bag).

Did the FW Vistas come with the short "Adaptor" or the actual "Extension" cable? My 248 didn't come with an adaptor and my dealer threw in the extension cable (which has the 15A end on it) for free. I was cool with that! :)

These cables are ridiculously heavy though..... :)

The adapter , which is about 18 - 24 inches long should come with the shorepower kit. 50' cord, ywllow storage bag and a 30 --> 15 amp adapter.
