Ya know, I saw one of these a couple of weeks ago and was wondering what it was, the "4 WINNS" on the side threw me for a bit, I didn't know FW used a 4 before the FOUR :?: What year did they go from 4 to FOUR?

Don't think I want to own a Sea Rat. I may end up eating those words, but for now I will stay away. Going to set up time to look at the Regal, but also need to be patient. I have a lot of time to find what will be perfect for y family of four! I don't want to trade up again for a loooong time! I do think the suggestion of going bigger, will be the right choice. It seems like there are a whole lot more 26 ft range pocket cruisers than 24's.

Hey hutch, what is your limit on distance for buying? I know of a couple 268 Vistas up my way (Buffalo area), and I know there are some in the Pittsburgh area too.

I didn't know you included your Mr. Lamb Chop doll in with the deal!! Man, if thats the case you gave that boat away

Hutch in all seriousness I can attest to the condition of Firecadet's old 268. He is one meticulous boat owner, and the new owner has barely had it one season.

Fire, that is a beautiful boat! Love the color and pretty much everything about it but the price. Is he trying to make a profit after a season?? I know this one is in exceptional condition, but have seen several others on boat trader for much less.

Niagra, I am willing to go about 200 miles for the right deal.

He's trying to turn it for a HUGE profit. No way he will get that much now that its end of season. I made him a great deal on it as I was moving up.

PM Me for specifics.

bliss36 just started trailering his 268 this year. He can tell you. The few times I trailerd our's it was okay, but needed a bigger truck than we used.

Out of curiosity, what were you towing with? I know the Pilot wont cut it, but just checking if a silverado 1500 will cut it or not.

I know..... A bit late to this thread. IMHO a 1/2 ton is way too small for towing....anything! Yes we have tried to tow our 248 to the gas station with the Tahoe. I have used the Tahoe for towing upto 4500 lbs, and I personally dont like it too much, feels very overloaded.
We use a F350 turbo diesel for towing the boat or 5th wheel. I would recommend at least a 3/4 ton for towing a RV of and size and weight, not just for safety reasons, but for comfort reasons. It is peace of mind knowing the tow vehicle can Handle the load in an panic situation. But I also tow here in the Rocky Mountains and have a different opinion vs flat land RV'ers.

Kinda wish we were closer to you, ready to let my boat go....

After finally getting to see some of the sizes of boats we would consider, I rate them as follows:

1. FW Vista
2. Monterey
3. Rinker

Wish I was able to see Chaparral at the show, but I didnt see them. I did look at Regal, and I did not really care for the layout on them. We are still thinking of the 24ft range, but that is only because there were none in that size at the show. Most of what we saw were 26+.

I found a decent 248 not too far away from me. Not sure if this is a good deal or not as far as price. http://loddersmarine.com/ViewInventory/ ... VISTA.aspx

We are really itching to move up now!

That 248 looks decent. 5.0L is adequate for that boat.

For the price on this Monty, the average size mid-cabin might be worth the sacrifice.
Most of the bells and whistles, and with the 5.7L, this boat should get up and go !

Cap'n- I did not see the price on this one. I must have missed it. I did a search for these a couple of nights ago and did not see this one. This would be really nice, if it includes the camper canvas.

Any opinions on the need for AC on a cruiser of this size?

This 250CR I posted does have AC.
Quote:
2006 Monterey 250 Cruiser Only 81 Hours on this 2006 Cruiser. It is powered by a 300 h.p. Volvo Penta 5.7 GI w/ Duo-Prop outdrive. Also comes with: custom cover, bimini top, dual battery switch, stereo/cd, huge swim platform, windlass anchor, cabin refrigerator, stove, sink, A/C, private head/shower, sleeps 2 in v-berth 7 2 in aft-cabin and more. This boat comes w/ a new 2012 Trailer shown in pictures.
$35,750

The add does not mention camper canvas, which is odd. Most express cruisers include that. May want to confirm with seller, as sometimes boat adds are not as complete as they should be.
