This 250CR I posted does have AC.

The 248 that I posted a link for does not appear to have AC :? . Not sure if that is something I should be extremely concerned about or if I should just buy a carry on.

Well, we had a 268 Vista without AC for 6 seasons. Only really needed it 2 or 3 times per year. When we bought the 282CR, it had AC and it spoiled us. We used it all the time. IMO, it's not a deal breaker, but you will be glad you have it when needed.

I am just wondering if I will still like the 248 now that I have been in a 268 and seen the space offered. Where do they take the 2ft from? Is it just taken from all over in little bits or do they shrink the cabin by that much?

Hutch, on the inside the 248's aft cabin is smaller that the queen size 268, The V berth looks just a bit shorter. The galley seems just a bit smaller. Not sure if the head is any smaller, and not sure that it could be.

On the outside most of the difference seems to be the rear seat and the fore deck. The 248's upholstered rear seat sits farther back than on the 268 and it forms the back wall of the boat above the smaller transom storage compartment. The fore deck is shorter than the 268. The helm and U shaped seating areas are about the same. There is approximately a 500 pound difference in weight.

I bought an '02 268 in October 2011, and we really like it. It has the 280 hp 5.7gi. We usually cruise at 3500-3600 with speeds in the upper 20's and just over 2 mpg, depending on load, trim, etc. I trailer it every weekend behind a 3/4 Chev and have no issues. Realistically, the boat on the trailer all gassed up and loaded for the weekend will tip the scales in the general area of 9500lb. By keeping it at home I trade slip fees and marina gas prices (an extra $1/gal) for the ability to load it and work on it. While we usually go to the Mississippi and St Croix rivers near Minneapolis, we can trailer to a destination of our choice. Just be sure to keep the trailer and tires in shape. The boat launches and loads reasonably well. The previous owner put a two speed crank style boat winch on it, which works well. It is a lot bigger than the '95 190 Horizon we had, but trailering the 268 is very feasible. As others have said, I would recommend the 268.

If your still looking hutch, our old boat is in Akron Oh., we traded in Sept. for our 328, place called Boat masters marine, its an 04 268 with AC (you WILL need it), 350 hours, excellant boat. Also has a trailer and we trailered it all the time with a 1/2 ton Chevy. They want alot for it but they were very fare with our trade/deal.

I will have to check out your old one! Did your '04 have the wet bar in the cockpit? I was going to see if I could pull it with a 1/2 ton Chevy, so hearing that you were able to do so makes me feel better about it.

If anyone sees any deals/steals on '00+ 248 or 268 please PM me please.

Small world I guess!! Your 268 was the one that my wife and I walked through!! It is a beautiful boat, I must say. They are just asking WAAAAAY too much for it! That same dealer has a 248 for sale that is at least 8-10k higher than it should be as well.

Sorry, not a 268, but an affordable 240 Sig.

That 268 is a much better price than the 58k one that I saw at the boat show! My budget just needs it to be lower 30's.

If you don't mind driving a little to get one:

http://www.yachtworld.com/boats/2002/Fo ... ted-States

This one I've seen and is brand new. Been sitting at this dealer since 09. I was there geting parts last summer and asked them if they were ever going to drop the price and get rid of it. They said the place had a new owner and he is ready to deal on it. But I see it's still there.

Good luck on your search. I was looking for a 268 last spring but couldn't find one with a trailer. Not much difference between the 248-268. I really liked the 278 but it was more than I wanted to spend at the time.
I love my 248 and tow it with a 1/2 ton. Wouldn't recommend any long distance towing with a 1/2 ton though.

I wouldnt mind blowing the budget for a "new" boat! That one looks very nice! Are there any issues to be worried about with it just sitting in the lot for 4 years?

Blow the budget and step up to an almost new, loaded 258 Vista maybe... Hell of a lot less expensive than that 248.....

http://www.boattrader.com/listing/2006- ... -101873919

PS, that 250 CR Monty I posted earlier, even with having a camper top made is a better deal than these 258's or the 248's IMO. Or maybe this
05' 250CR with camper canvas, trailer AC/Heat for $35K....

Stay away from this boat. Pretty sure you'd be its fourth owner...I had it surveyed and it did not shake out to well.

My old 268 is up for sale still....priced way to high!
