Thanks for your help on this. The Alabama trailer is already sold, so that one is out, but the picture might be helpful if I can find an affordable aftermarket trailer. I have 3 friends with 268 Vista's in our marina, all of them have factory FW trailers. But, none of them will be launching for a week or two. If you can look at your trailer and compare to the 278 trailer, that would be great. The Alabama guy gave me a phone number of someone that might be able to find me a used one. I'll call him and see what he can do.

I went through this excercise 3 years ago, and after 7 months of searching, all I could find was getting a new custom built trailer for $4K. That was more than we wanted to spend, so I gave up. It's worth trying again this year, because I can save a ton of $'s on winter storage if I have my own trailer. The search continues.

When we purchased our 268, the original trailer for it (that we have with the boat now) had the dealer's new 278 sitting on it (the 268 was in a slip). The dealer had noted that the 268 trailer would be used on the 278 as well, if we had wanted the new 278.

Thanks guys. I knew the 278 hull from the rub rail down is the same hull as the 268, so I thought the 278 trailer would have worked, but was not positive.
Those pictures will be a big help, thank you Jeff.

I will call the RR trailer guy when I get a chance, I have 3 customers breathing down my neck right now because they want to launch their 120+ foot boats (new builds) a week earlier than originally planned. I have to sort out how we can achieve this with the manpower , machines and manufacturing hours available.

I dont think the 278 and the 268 have the same hull from the rub rail down. I thought the 278 was another Hunt design following some of the bigger models. The integraded swim platform and the dfferent windows seem to make it look complately different to me. I was suprised when the bunks of mine look so very close to the pic you had posted.

The very botom of the hulls are nearly identical, they added a bit more "swoop" to the 278 but wetted surface is the same, I'm pretty sure. The oval shaped port lites on the 278 do make it look like a different hull. I remember when the 278 came out a few years ago at the boat show, the salesmen said it was basically a re-badged 268.

Funny there is actually a 268 on this triple axle. Looks like the boat hangs off a bit
too much from what I can see. Looks like a 260DA on the double axle one. Worth a call ????

Definitely worth checking out for that price. Even if you had to have somebody cut off and reweld the bunks to better suit your hull I would guess that you still wouldn't approach the 4K mark. My guess would be $2,500 -$2,800 as long as you don't get screwed by the fabricator.
