i hope someone can help, I have an 87 liberator 241 twin 350's alpha 1 drive 14inch 23 pitch props. when I give it trottle the front raises very high in the air, the more throttle I give it the higher in the air it goes. I have the out drives allthe way down/in and the trim tabs down as well. I have tried to let it come down by going some distance but you cant to far with the bow all the way out of the water. i let it tach up to about 3000 rpm and the front gets higher and higher. the swim platform goes all the way in the water. I am a novice boater and this is my first 24 footer and twins. I cant figure out what the problem is. Its got to be funny looking from afar but not fun when your in the boat. I hope maybe the tabs or drives are in the wrong position. Any help is greatly appreciated, Thanks

Sure sounds like your outdrives aren't really all the way down...Are you just going by the gauge reading, or can you confirm that they are down.
That's where I would start...

Too much wight in the stern? Are you sure your tabs are down? At the dock, check them, move than down.

It really sounds like you engines are not down all the way. Put them down, take a pix and let us see.

I've seen "go-fast" boats that get propped to a point that they have essentially no hole shot but a maximum top speed.

They require full throttle to get up on plane and usually struggle to get there. Once on plane they have lots of top end but not much else.

Since this is Liberator, I'd say it is possible a previous owner propped it with top speed only in mind.

I think you should be able to determine what prop pitch was originally installed on the boat from Four Winns and then compare that to the 23" ones on it currently. 23" pitch doesn't seem too out of whack for what this boat should have to me though.

If everything else checks out, I'd consider trying lower pitch props.

Thanks for the help everyone, only the motors back there, i never checked to see if the outdrives were down i pulled the switch it the top of the trottle toward the back of the boat, thats always the way it worked on any other boat i had,the gauges were all the way to the right not sure what that means, should of taken a visual inspection and not assummed. man will i feel dump if the buttoms are opposite of what im used to.

Never trust boat gauges, especially 1987 ones that are over 20 years old. I just replaced all the gauges in my 2000 year boat because every single one of them was inaccurate.

Faria gauges are dirt cheap with a good warranty. I just installed those on my boat and tossed the VDO Visions in the trash. Gas was off 1/4, temp off 20 degrees, oil pressure off 15psi, speedo and trim busted, and volt meter off 1 volt.
