Hello everyone,

I noticed that the Four Winns 268 Vista has a slight list to port side when at rest. Anyone ever had this problem? We have a generator on the starboard side and I can’t think of any reason why it would list to the port side. Any ideas? Thanks for the help.

I don't have a good answer for you, but mine lists slightly to port also, mostly when the fresh water tank is low. Since the fresh water tank on my 268 is tucked in the rear corner on the starboard side, filling it up usually corrects the list to port. ALso, I do not have a generator, but my 2 batteries on on the port side also. Add to that the built in cooler and the refrigerator and galley are all on the port side. I think this is compensated for when guests are on board, since all the cockpit seating is on the starboard side.

To make a long story short, as long as your bilge is dry, I would not worry about it. It used to make me crazy, but now I don't even notice it anymore.

Thanks Giaccamo,

I filled up the fresh water tank and with the genset on the starboard side; I hope the list will be minimal.

Mine does, slightly. I notices the water line is higher than on the starboard but assumed that was from getting on and off at the transom.

Ditto for mine. I keep my water water tank full and use that instead of the Hook up. Fill my tank every week.

Just relocate your beer cooler to the starboard side and that should take care of the list  P.S. For this fix to work, the cooler must be appropriately stocked with many selected brews

I actually have a slight list to starboard as that is the location of the genset and batteries.

We have a list to port as well. Our dealer thinks that since we did not get the genset which would be starboard that is the cause. He is going to move the batteries to the starboard side to balance it out.

Moving the cooler is a good idea, because it will help when it is filled up with beer, and as the beer is comsumed even though the effectiveness of this solution is lessened, you will be less likely to notice!

I didn't notice it but the service manager said our boat lists to port about 1 inch. We had noticed the galley sink didn't fully drain. He couldn't figure out why. The boat was out of the water to replace the thru-hulls and he looked at the scum line. Genset and batteries are on port side so maybe that's why.
