There are surely a million techniques for this that I'll find with some more searching, but thought I'd get some opinions here our on our FW forum.... what's the best technique for getting the rope back to a skiier in the water? We've been doing ok by turning to starboard after passing the skiier, but sometimes the skiier has to swim a bit in order to get to the rope --- there has to be a more consistent way. Thx.

just go around the skier in a circle, the rope will work it's way to them

If the line floats then just circle around the skier until they can grab it. Then they just just slide along the line back to the handle. You'd have to turn around on seeing them fall, go back and circle behind them (at a slow speed of course) in a fairly tight circle. The line should curl inward, not pay out directly behind you. That inward drag should have the line crossing the skier within the 1st or second circling.

I always tell the skier to try for the middle of the tow rope, that way they almost always get it just before the handle. To tell the truth I expected someone to advocate the over the head swirling toss to the skier. Glad I didn't!

When circling around as people describe above, always keep the skier on the drivers side (starboard). That way you can keep eye contact at all times.
