I was in Play it again sports yesterday, they had all the water sports equipment 50% off.

They had a Hyperlite Murray 142 for $100 with bindings. I did some internet searching and it looks like its a 2005 model.
I am a skier, wakeboarded once about 5 years ago. Was able to get up on the second try, no problems staying up but didn't do any tricks.
I'm 5'7", about 140 lbs.

For you wakeboarders out there, is this a decent board? I think it is a bit big for my size but will it be a problem? For the price I'm thinking I may just buy it.

I'll say for the price it's a good buy. The size is about right for your weight. The bindings are a bit dated, so after another season of "improving" you may want to get something a bit easier to get in and out of (like the CWB Hinge). I did about the same as you... tried it, bought a cheapo a few years later, then bought a fairly nice board/binding package this spring. I still have and use the old board, as it is nice to be in the water with someone I am teaching to board.

I dont think the size will be a problem at this point.. But it might become a problem when you want to become better. The bigger the board, the less mobile it is (for the most part), but it will be easier to get up and move around on (much more stable). I am 6'3" 280 lbs and I ride a Hyperlite 144. I wish I had a 140 now that I have been boarding for a year. I may be a rare case though.. I doubt Hyperlite even intended 280+ pounds to ever be on a wakeboard    .. Just some thoughts... Like Walt said youll be wanting new boots soon. But for the most part it looks clean and is at a decent price and should be a good board to begin with. Either way, its always good to have an extra board around for newbies.
