Its finally breaking the 40f mark here in Michigan so I went out today and reconnected all of the hoses on my 278 Vista and reinstalled the drain plugs on the engines, etc.

Fortunately, everything looks like it fared well over the winter! :D

When I was re-connecting some of the cooling hoses back onto the t-stat housing, they had a bunch of a gelly like buildup on them. I personally winterized the boat - and the gel stuff wasnt there when I winterized it, and I sure didnt put it there

Is this a sign its time to replace the hoses? Ive never had this happen before.

Could it be the pink antifreeze that gelled once it froze the brass monkey? I read it will gel but don't know if it ungels.

Well, I didnt use anti-freeze. I followed the VP directions and just drained everything. Anti-freeze has never came in contact with these hoses.

Not sure what that is, unless its some kind of corrosion from sitting over the winter. Post a pic of it....

Could it be that slimy algae gunk that forms in sitting water? I've seen it in old tires that sit outside. Even tho you drained the block and hoses, SOME water will still remain. I'd use anti-freeze because it prohibits corrosion too.
