The automotive block/head is the probably the same as the marine version, but the head gaskets and core plugs must be marine grade.

To test the manifold, you put the drain plug in and hook up a hose to the water inlet. You have to prop up the manifold to keep it level. Then you fill it through the hose carefully, till the manifold is nearly full. The cooling passages will be full of acetone, look for acetone leaking out the exhaust ports.

Thanks for all your help. I am waiting for my next check to buy the acetone. I did use laquer thinner and there were no leaks. But i will try the acetone just to be safe. I am going to get 2 blocks to rebuild. I willake sure to get marine grade gaskets. My manual arrived.
