I was greasing up the zerk fitting on the starboard side of my Volvo SX drive. I went to pull the grease gun off and the zerk fitting attached to a little black tube came along with it. I put it back in, do you think it's ok? Nothing seems to have broken off, it seems like it just pops back in.

The tube is pushed into the gimbal housing, the end is tapered and the use of Loctite primer and thread locking compound is specified. At the zerk end, the use of gasket sealing compound on the outside of the tube is specified.

Graham, thanks for your info. It seems like it would be the other way around. Thread lock on the zerk fitting as it screws into the tube and gasket sealer on the end that goes into the gimbal housing as it simply pushes in. Am I correct?

The Volvo Panta manual indicates the thread locking compound is used at the gimbal housing end and the gasket sealing compund at the zerk end.

Mine did the same thing yesterday...except only the metal zerk head popped off with the grease gun. Is it broke? I put it back in place using a pliers but my gut tells me that it shouldn't pop out and is probably broke internally somehow.

On the plus side it was full of grease so I'm okay until I need to grease the hubs again.
