Those 5.0 and 5.7 water pumps have had weep holes forever; I remember changing one on my '75 Camaro in about 1980. But I've never known what the weep hole was for... what makes a pump start to weep? (I'm probably the only one here who doesn't already know.)

Mike, I believe the bearing and the seal begin to go after awhile and water coming through the compromised section, the weep hole, gives you notice that something is about to happen. I think that it is engineered into the system to work that way.
