It's been a little while since I've posted cause I thought the sight went away but found you guys again when I was searching this problem. GOOD to be back though! Anyway, here's the deal. We've had the boat out a few times so far this year and it runs like a champ but... once a trip, out on the water, there's a few loud pops that happen in the engine compartment. It's still got last years gas in it (with the stabil) and I've added gas to it a few times before hitting the lake. I think it's the exhaust popping but figured I'd ask here. It's loud pops that are random and don't last very long (maybe 4 or 5) then won't do it the rest of the day. VP 5.0 GXI with SX outdrive. I gave the boat full service, outdrive off, etc... last fall. Could water in fuel cause this? Any help appreciated.

Sounds like your engine is back firing. Scared the crap out of me the first time it happened. It is water in your fuel so change your fuel filters.
