How hard is it to swap out this pump on your own - any advice, tips, or gotchas that I should be aware of?

You are talking about the main/circulating pump. Not the raw water pump. I have not done one in years!!

Make a diagram of the belt so you know who to put it back. Remove the hoses & unbolt it from the block. Clean off the old gasket from the block. In putting the new pump on, the gasket is going to what to fall off. I used a gasket sealer to hold it in place, than bolted it back on.

Easy job, the only tricky part (sometimes) is you have to get the old pulley off of the mount, remove the 4 bolts and spray PB Blaster in the bolt holes so it can get in between the pulley and the mount, you can use a block of wood and a hammer to tap it off gently or use a pulley puller to be on the safe side. Take a digital pic of how the accessory brackets are bolted on because the lower mounting bolts for the pump share the same holes. Took me about 1/2 hr to swap mine out last fall after 22 years of use...
I also use OMC gasket sealer on the gaskets....
These typically last a long time, are you sure yours needs to be replaced?
