What flush kits do people run on the 350 Mag? My boat is moored in a marina so want to be able to flush the salt water out of the motor after every use.

Cheers,

Mike

Personally, I you install a closed system. But due the rust build up, it should not be done to a motor with over 20 hours on it. SO I have been told. I have installed them on 2 of my boats, both with ay least 12 hours with no problems. The rust will clog the heat exchanger.

If you have a Volvo, you can use the hose connection to flush it. As long as you don't go over 1000RPMs, more it will suck in sea water.

It's a Mercruiser 350 Magnum. Got 165 hours on it from being a fresh water trailer boat. Not going to put a closed loop cooling system on it due to the cost. There is no hose connection on the 350 Mag hence my post.

Can anyone else help?

I'm not very familiar, but isn't there a product called Neutra Salt that people use to accomplish this?

My past 4 boats were Mercs & I have never seen, even as a option Neutra Salt. My Volvo has the Neutra Salt system, but the dealer said that was only for the E. manifolds. With or with out a closed system.

No, that's wrong. the Neutrasalt solution is sucked in just prior to the power steering fluid cooler at the transom. With closed cooling, it protects the manifolds and risers. With raw water cooling, it protects the engine as well ( assuming the engine is warmed up and the thermostat is open).

Merc does have a kit, But most engines would need to be modified with different water hoses you'd need to get from mercruiser to make it work.

Mercruiser Flush Kit (#22-861932A 1)
PRICE: $134.96
Part #: 22-861932A 1

This patented Mercury flushing system fits MCM/MIE 4.3L, 5.0L, & 5.7L (Gen +) engines with drainable circulating pump hose. Although the product seems relatively simplistic, this patented product is the only known "Non-Engine Running" method of flushing an engine while actually clearing out both sides of the thermostat: exhaust manifolds and engine block. Most "Non-Running" engine flush setup will only flush out the manifolds due to the thermostat closing once cold water is introduced, and therefore preventing flushing of the block itself. If your engine does not have the 3 piece circulating pump hose including the "Blue" drain fitting, you will need to order the following hose setup to allow use of this flush system. Sorry about that, I may have misunderstood the dealer!! I do have a closed system, and maybe thats what I heard.

Thanks for that boat tech.

Is this basically a 1 way valve that screws into that hose and therefore opens when the pressure from the hose starts?
