A 3.0? I would put good wires on but the coil really won't gain you much.

but doesnt a hotter spark equal better combustion and more efficiency? which in turn provides better fuel consumption and power?

You're better off getting rid of the points system for an electronic ignition for more reliability. Other then that? The answer to your "wants" are no. If your ignition system is working up to spec adding thicker wires and a hotter coil won't do a single thing except make your wallet lighter.

But they Look Pretty :!:

The reasons for the better wires are noise, less resistance, and dualbility. You could get slight gain off of a better coil, but it take a little more energy to run them. So anything in mileage would be pretty much nill.

The better wires will have better boots on them and hence more waterproof as well.

What a drag. Get it? Drag. As in alternator causing more resistance to spin due to more power demand so that 1hp you gained in ignition upgrades is lost making it work.

bad joke monday.
