I am replacing my idler pulley and cannot find where to release the tension off the belt...am I blind?

Do you have a "serpentine" or a "V" belt?. If you have a serpentine belt there should either be a bolt at an elongated hole to loosen and relax the tension, or more commonly a square hole in the idler bracket which will accept the end of a socket with some downward pressure releases the tension. If you have a V belt then typically you have to loosen the alternator.

I have a serpintine setup. I do not see a place for a break over like a traditional truck or car. I have a 07 horizon if that helps.

Does the idler have a bolt on the front?...do you have a picture?

Yes it does! It's dark now but it seems like the last option.

In many cases they omitted the square hole and used the large bolt in the center of the idler pulley as the release you just put a wrench on the bolt and turn it in the direction or the spring tension and it will release the tension on the belt.
