Hi everyone, I am new to the forum and am planning on my first upgrade being the prop on my 03 214 funship. I just bought this boat and will be bringing it home saturday. Its my first four winns and I am giddy like a little girl. I fell in love with this boat. Mint condition inside and out, 170 hours and maintained regularly. The only down fall is the 5.0 NON fuel injected volvo engine. I was told it would be to weak but I drove it and got to 44 and that is plenty for what I do. I mostly cruise with the occasional watersports. I would like some more hole shot though for pulling people. It still has the stock prop which is aluminum and 19 pitch I'm assuming. I'm wanting to go SS. Should I stick with the 19 pitch? Three or four blade? name brand recommendations? Thank you for your suggestions.

4 blade will give you a better hole shot.

if you're staying under 50ish, SS prop wont REALLY make too much of a difference... except in the $$ side

I would say (although i am not the expert) standard when switching from 3 blade to 4 is to drop the pitch by 1.... But if you want a quicker hole shot, i would stay at the 19 pitch but go 4 blade.

go to http://www.propgods.com and post all your specs on the forum, the guys will answer and confirm

Every prop is different. Some 19 pitch SS's can act like other 21 pitch SS props. I've been doing a bunch of prop research lately and what I've found is:

The Volvo Penta 3 blade SS prop is top 3 best on the market even against MC props. If you're only doing mid 40's now, going to a 4 blade will slow you down further with marginal increase in low/mid range acceleration. Stick with the same 19 pitch, but VP ss.

That being said, the Michigan Wheel Apollo XHS is also very good. Also on sale! Check out iboats.com It's like $230, almost half off.

call your local prop shop. they'll have test props you can slap on and see how they feel.
